This department teaches the students about how microbes affect crop production, soil health, and livestock, as well as their applications in improving agricultural productivity, sustainability, and food security. It has one laboratory combined with the biochemistry and plant pathology laboratory.

To conduct the practical classes, the department is using the facilities in the laboratories of biochemistry, plant pathology and soil science and agricultural chemistry. Facilities available in Plant Pathology Laboratory such as Microscopes, Autoclave, Laminar airflow, Hot air oven, ocular micrometer, stage micrometer (for the measurement of size of microorganisms) utilized for conducting practical classes on bacterial staining, nutritional media preparations, isolation and microscopic examination of bio fertilizer organisms etc including mass multiplication.
